So, you can enclose your computer components in a smooth monolithic case and hide all its innards from sight. Or you can make the case translucent or put windows in the side along with gaudy blue lighting so you can show off all the bare boards and traces.

Apparently it took BMW's in-house design-studio-for-things-other-than-cars (like the Porsche and Ferrari ones that design things iike laptops and coffee makers and mountain bikes) to come up with this one.
I gotta admit it looks nifty; but it would take a certain kind of interior design aesthetic to fit into it. Like, say, THX 1138.
And can you imagine dusting it? Urgh.
