09:13 - Oh, do tell me more

Tim Blair hears from Brian Boyko, a documentary filmmaker who makes Michael Moore look like Carl Sagan.
He's posted Boyko's whole wounded diatribe in response to Blair's earlier post pointing at Bokyo's persecuted global wanderings, and the commenters—as is commonly the case at Blair's place—making wonderful hay of it.
Brian’s spillage is richly detailed about his internal state but vague about all those Americans shipped off to Gitmo or imprisoned for civil disobedience. Names and dates would help. Even one name, one date.
Don’t people like Brian ever proofread their own hysterics and think, ‘I need to present an actual, verifiable fact, right about now’?
This is why I haven't posted much political stuff lately. It won't help. I've long since given up as futile the hope that it would add to anyone's knowledge who already agrees with my position, or that it would change the mind of anyone who doesn't (or, for that matter, not alienate members of the latter group that I would like to call friends). When seemingly lucid and intelligent people are as stolidly disconnected from reality as Boyko is, there's literally no point in arguing with them. All you can do is hope they eventually tire themselves out without causing too much damage to themselves and others.
UPDATE: Similar levels of heroic, dogged thickheadedness are on display from a contributor in the comments of this post on the Bush/Mandela thing by Patterico.
