Aww, was John K. not impressed by Ratatouille?
It's not enough to just have the character tell the other characters what their one personality trait is and why they have it. Am I the only one that notices that? "I'm a strong woman living in a man's world and I'm not gonna let a wimpy snot nosed kid like you stand in my way!" "Oh yeah! Well I'm the villain! A shallow no talent bum who has nothing better to do than make money critiquing those who do have talent!"
I love the guy and what he has to say and teach, but damn, sometimes his insistence on his own particular vision leads to nothing but sour grapes. Considering how many people it's made happy, by what criterion of his do Ratatouille and modern blockbusters like it fail? Yes, I realize one could make that same argument about things like Pokemon, but this is reductio ad cranky-bitter-old-man-rant.
