11:52 - Dang, but I'm going to miss this car

Last night I was heading to the store, and because it's just about the last chance I'll have to do so, I was peeling out at a few stop lights along the way, enjoying the acceleration like I did the first few weekends when the car was new back in 1999.
So I pull up at this one light, and a couple of lanes over there's a Chevy Nova SS 350, and he's doing the same thing.
The light goes green, and he floors it, and I floor it, and wouldn't you know it—I'm keeping neck-and-neck with him right up to highway speed. Me in my dorky little green Jetta. The VR6 sounds like an angry bee compared to his V8, but it sure does get the job done.
I'm sure the car I'm getting, particularly because it's an evolution of the same platform with a better engine in all respects, will give me even more fun weekends. But it probably won't have quite the stealth factor of the Jetta. It won't come as quite so much of a surprise to people at stop lights.
Sunrise, sunset... sunriiiiiise, sunset...
(The picture is from Teslin, Yukon Territory, by the way. This car has taken me places.)
