09:31 - Try the wine
|
(top) |
Okay, here's something I've been wondering for literally years. What the hell is it with psychedelic classic rock songs always talking about drinking wine? Was wine some ubiquitous hippie elixir? Was "wine" a euphemism for drugs?
Every time I hear another song with "wine" in it, I want to compile a list of all the hippie songs that talk about wine. So here we go:
Beatles: Norwegian Wood UB40: Red Red Wine Eric Burdon: Spill the Wine Three Dog Night: Joy to the World Rolling Stones: Honky Tonk Woman (oh wait, that's "drink you off my mind", not "drink you all my wine" or whatever)
Okay, I knew there were more than these, but of course now I'm blanking now that I try to put the list together. Any others?
