17:52 - Water-soluble driving ability
|

Whoever it was who started the rumor that Californian drivers are uniquely prone to going completely insane when it starts raining needs to update his stereotypes.
On this stretch of freeway, westbound, coming downhill from a ridge-cutting toward the mall, the left lane is cursed. Always slower than the other lanes, to the point where it randomly comes to a stop while the other lanes are going 50 mph. And today, as it was raining, there were three separate accidents in the half-mile stretch shown here.
And then another one just after the exit onto the next highway. And three more on surface streets on the way to dinner and back, one of which was just some guy who'd been pulled over by no fewer than seven police cars strewn across the main downtown intersection. I've never seen so many police lights in such a small radius that wasn't some kind of parade.
It's gonna be a loooooong winter.
